Afternoon Tea Concert – Miles Quick (organ)

Saturday 11th September 2021  3.00 – 3.45 pm, followed by tea

The 45-minute programme will aim to demonstrate our Father Willis organ’s remarkable variety of tone and power to evoke a wide range of emotions as we emerge from the pandemic – from the celebratory boldness of Cocker’s Tuba Tune (using our newly-installed Tuba Stop) to the contemplative lament of Barber’s Adagio for strings (in an ingenious arrangement for organ) and the noble remembering of Elgar’s Nimrod.  Other pieces will include Howells’s Rhapsody in C sharp minor (a dramatic piece written during a Zeppelin raid in York) and the serene Prélude, Fugue and Variation by César Franck.

Tea and cakes will be served afterwards in our newly-extended and newly-furnished coffee shop for those able to stay.  No charge, but there will be a retiring collection to support the work of the church.
Pre-booking advised, please contact church office to leave your name and contact details:
